It's Monday again! Oh what a vicious cycle. But that's what keeps it interesting right? *wink*

So if you've been following my blogging journey, you would most probably have noticed that I gained weight. I used to have very stable body weight, and by "very stable" I meant never-gaining-nor-losing-a-single-kilo-since-junior-high kinda stable. Some of you might now think what an oh-la-la life that must be. Well it had its perks, I must admit. But there were some things I envy from curvy girls too, things that - just like how some of you now think that I'm a bitch for not appreciating - I don't get how curvy girls don't appreciate. Greener grasses, y'all.

But now I've gained some weight and am no longer in the skinny bitches club. I know this for sure because most people have made that comment when they saw me. Now these comments though.. some of them were very hurtful. Don't get me wrong. I do not have any objection when people are blatant and say "Wynne you're fat!" because first, that's a fact, and second, I feel really good with my current figure, I do! I look so much fresher and healthier now, I still celebrate freedom to eat and still eat whatever I want, I have boobs.. I feel sexier than ever! And not just male's perspective kind of sexy, or even not at all. I have always admired female body and all the curves women are blessed with so I completely feel - how do I put this - the kind of sexy that Beyonce write songs about.

So no, it's not the remarks like that that hurt. What hurts is when the remarks come from a person who perceives fat or curvy as something ugly and undesirable. For example, girls who diet their asses off to maintain their weight.  These girls think fat = ugly (which is why they diet), so when they say you're fat they're essentially saying you're ugly. So these kind of people, consciously or unconsciously, they make such comments to try to bring you down and make you feel bad about yourself, ergo they feel superior. The salt on the wound is when such a mean person is someone really close to you.. like your family member. At this point you'll want to tell me that family would never intentionally try to bring you down. I agree with that theory only to a certain extent, and this comes from a personal experience. So yeah, that hurt.

The point is, sometimes the comments you make say so much more than just its plain meaning. Who you are and what you think about things translate into your remarks so you really have to be careful with what you say. Just remember not to say something that you do not want other people to say to you. It's easy when you have a good heart.

  9. Hmm I've definitely experienced this as well as I know my weight fluctuates a bit. And I definitely have those friends who are working out almost every day and eating healthy because being skinny is all they care about. But IMO life is about balance and I'd rather enjoy life than suffer and deprive myself just so I can be super thin! I feel bad for people who think that being super skinny is the most important thing in the world. Don't let their judgy comments get to you! Who cares as long as you're happy and healthy?

  10. I strongly agree with the last remark you made, "it's easy when you have a good heart." This couldn't be any more true. When you have a beautiful heart and your genuinely care about others, you always look for the very best in them and highlight those qualities. Only those who are insecure with themselves seek to make others feel bad. As for your outfit, I love the dress and shoes! Your hair looks amazing, too! Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you're having a great week so far!

  11. I've gain weight recently and I probably wouldn't even notice it if every single person didn't feel the urge to remind me. Literally everywhere were saying: "You gained weight!", " How much have you been eating lately!?" and so on....and only after all those comment, I weighted myself...and I did gain a few kilos...and you know what? I don't care!

I don't plan to do anything about it because my weight is healthy according to my IBM. Even if I gained a few kilos more, I would still be healthy. People think they need to be skinny to be healthy but that is not true, it is only important to avoid being overweight...and just because I have curves doesn't mean that I'm overweight. To be honest, I don't understand people who don't have anything better to do than watch whether I gained a pound or two. I mean it is not like I gained 20 pounds, I still wear the same size and my clothes still fit. It makes me feel weird that there are so many people to whom that physical aspect is the only thing important. That's so weird, isn'it?

You look fantastic btw! I love that dress on you.

    1. I've probably gained more weight than you then, because some of my clothes don't fit anymore, hahahaha. A fact which I am perfectly fine with because it's like I lost my skinniness but gained so much happiness! It's definitely weird when people criticize that!

But anyway, thanks for sharing your experience. Good to know there are still some people who could not care less about gaining a few kilos, so long as we're still healthy and not overweight! :)

  15. To be completely honest, I think you are definitely thin in these photos. While I do not know what you looked like before your weight gain, you are still on the thin side. That being said, I personally think all body types are lovely, and being on the petite side myself, I totally know what you mean about envying girls who are more curvy. While the rest of the female population wants to get rid of their hips, I wish I had some! But you are totally right - people need to be mindful of each other's feelings and never say things that could really hurt another person. Although I really thought that this was common sense?! Sorry that you had to put up with hurtful comments.

    1. I agree it should be common sense! But I guess people have different standards as to what kind of remarks are okay and what are not, and most of them probably just assume that their standards apply to everyone else, which is not how it works. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Rae!

  22. I agree with you that I don't think calling someone fat should mean the same thing as calling someone ugly because they're not the same thing. That said, it would be a disservice to women who are actually struggling with weight issues to call you fat. You are NOT fat! You are fine the way you are. And perfectly stylish to boot! :]

    1. Thanks for such kind words, sister! I really don't mind when people call me fat if they think I am, because in fact I did gain a few kilos. I just wish they weren't the same people who think fat is hideous, because then that hurts. Nevertheless, I feel completely happy with my body right now and really encouraged by the kind words people have dropped in this post, including yours, so thanks again!
